The camera: 4K or 1080p?
The resolution on the box matters less than how the camera handles a dim room. PCMag praises the MX Brio for strong low-light performance and a deep focal plane. On a tighter budget, the 1080p StreamCam is the simpler buy.
The mic: don’t use the webcam’s
PCMag calls the MX Brio’s mic mediocre. Noise-canceling headphones with a built-in mic, like the Bose QC Ultra (2nd Gen), keep the room out of your ears. If you present often, a desk mic like the JLab Talk Pro sounds fuller.
The desk: one cable
A USB-C monitor carries video and charges your laptop over the same cable. The ASUS ProArt PA279CRV delivers up to 96W over USB-C, per ASUS. If your laptop takes USB-C video and charges at 96W or less, one cable does both.
