Is the PS6 price official?
Sony and Microsoft have not announced official prices or launch dates for PS6 or Project Helix.
Wait before spending because of these rumors. If you want to play now, plan a PC build or upgrade around your games.
What we know
Ars Technica’s October 20 report cites Fortune on Microsoft’s internal plans for Project Helix.
According to that report, Microsoft is targeting 2028. Fortune reports internal pricing well above today’s consoles, as relayed by Ars Technica.
TechPowerUp reports leaker Kepler_L2’s claim that PS6 would cost less to manufacture than Helix.
What we don’t know
The Xbox Helix price report describes internal planning. It does not establish what Microsoft will charge buyers.
The PS6 manufacturing-cost claim is a rumor. Lower manufacturing costs alone would not establish a lower retail price.

What to do before you buy
- Keep your current setup if it runs the games you want to play.
- Check that those games are available on PC before planning a move.
- Identify the problem an upgrade would solve: graphics performance or storage space.
- Check part compatibility, power requirements and physical fit before ordering.
- Compare a complete PC build with upgrading the machine you already own.

Consider it for a planned graphics upgrade after checking compatibility. This is a PC graphics card, not a complete gaming system.

Consider it if storage space is your problem. Check your PC’s compatibility and installation instructions, and back up your files first.

Our verdict: Buy / Wait / Skip
- Buy: Build or upgrade a PC if you want to play now and have checked your games, budget and part compatibility.
- Wait: Keep a working setup while you wait for official console details, because these reports do not settle the buying decision.
- Skip: Pass on a GPU or SSD if it would leave your actual gaming problem unresolved.
